Today’s reading is Psalms 112-116.

Why must we put God in the beginning? Because we become what we worship. As Psalm 1154-8 explains, idols have blind eyes, deaf ears, useless noses, feeble hands, immobile feet. “Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.” The point? Idols are useless and those who worship them become useless. God is awesome and those who worship Him become like Him. Put God in the beginning.

Monday’s reading is Psalms 117-118.

A Word for Our Kids

Hey kids, I always strive to remember Psalm 115:1. “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory.” I encourage you to remember it as you grow up also. There is a constant contest going on in our hearts all the time. It is a contest for glory. Either we give God the glory or we give ourselves the glory. That means either our lives are about making us look good or about making God look good. Always live to make God look good. He deserves it.
