Today’s reading is James 1-2.
“If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.” Our religion is supposed to change us. If we don’t allow our religion to change how we speak, then our religion is worthless. What good does it do to praise God on Sunday, if Monday through Saturday we curse our neighbor? No doubt we should realize that this same principle applies to our keyboard. If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his social media but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. That is something to think about before hitting “post” today.
Monday’s reading is James 3-4.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, as you grow up I know you want to gain wisdom. I know you want to understand how things work and how to live life well. What a great promise God gives to those who love Him. He gives wisdom to those who ask in faith. Remember the ultimate source of all wisdom is God. He gives it through Scripture, through wise counsel from others, through books, through experience, through mistakes, and so much more. But He does give it. Remember that and always ask Him for wisdom. That will help you live successfully no matter what anyone else is doing.
