Today’s reading is Proverbs 2-3.

“Toward the scorners he is scornful,
but to the humble he gives favor.
The wise will inherit honor,
but fools get disgrace.”
Proverbs 3:34-35

We know from Proverbs 1:7 that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. However, here we discover the key that unlocks the door to wisdom: Humility. Arrogant, scornful fools will only lay claim to scorn and disgrace. However, the humble wise will receive favor and inherit honor. Arrogance closes the door to wisdom. The arrogant don’t know they don’t have it, don’t know they need it, don’t know how to get it. But the humble bow before the One who bestows it and He will give it to them.
