Today’s reading is Psalms 36-37.
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” So…what would you get? If you were really delighting in the Lord, what would He give you? A house? A car? A spouse? Money? Fame? Power? Influence? Personal Happiness? Peace? Pleasure? Comfort? Entertainment? Recreation? A promotion on the job? Sports ability? What? But be careful, because however you answer that question actually tells you what you delight in the most. This statement turns my life on its head. It isn’t really saying you can have whatever you want if you really delight in the Lord. Rather, it reminds me that when I desire the Lord most, I’ll get the Lord and I’ll be delighted. Praise the Lord!
Tomorrow’s reading is Psalms 38-40.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, what do you desire? What do you want? Commercials on tv, trips to the store, hanging out with friends will show us lots of things we want. If we aren’t careful, the devil and the world will fill our hearts and minds with wants and desires so much that God gets crowded out of our hearts and minds. Of course, the devil won’t just walk up and say, “Forget about God.” But gradually, little by little, without us even realizing it is happening, as we desire more and more things, we decreasingly think about or desire God. Don’t let that happen to you. Keep reading the Word, keep praying, keep thinking about God, keep wanting Him, and you’ll find Him. Praise the Lord!
