Today’s reading is Psalm 6-9.
Though it is true, David is not saying in Psalm 8, that God is glorified from the largeness of the heavens to the smallness of the babies. Rather, his point is God uses babies and infants to conquer His foes. In other words, David understood when he defeated Goliath or the Philistines or the Amalekites or any of the people opposing God and His people, God was really the one who provided the victory. He was just a baby and infant used by God. The point for us? We are the babies and infants, but God will strengthen and empower us to defeat His enemies if we will just let Him. Praise the Lord!
Tomorrow’s reading is Psalm 10-14.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, I think it is really cool that some people actually believe Psalm 8 was written based on David’s defeat of Goliath. While there is no way to prove that definitely, it certainly fits the point of the psalm. David is wondering why God would even think of any man so much to let him be victorious or have any authority at all. And yet, that is exactly what God has done for man. God created the world and then placed man in authority over God’s creation. That is really shocking. God is putting a lot of faith in you, but then He is also empowering you to fulfill His faith. That is, if you let Him. If you will step out with faith in God to defeat the Goliath’s in your life, He will empower you to do so and you will have victory. Remember that as you grow up.
