Today’s reading is Judges 5-6.
Just as we saw it with Joshua, we see it again with Gideon. “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” God’s point was not at all that since He had commanded it, Gideon must be able to do it. In fact, we’ll see in tomorrow’s reading that God went out of His way to make sure Gideon knew it was not he and his army that defeated the Midianites. But God goes on to explain that since God is sending Gideon, God will be with Gideon. Gideon can’t defeat the Midianites; but God can, and God is the one who is sending Gideon to do it. Remember this when you think you can’t do what God has sent you to do. When God sends, He accompanies. When God accompanies, He empowers. When He empowers, we win. Praise the Lord!
Tomorrow’s reading is Judges 7-8.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, I don’t know what you think of yourself. But I hope you noticed Gideon. If anyone had a self-esteem problem, it was him. He saw himself as the least of the least of the least. Of course, he may not have had a bad self-image. His may have been spot on. But then that is even more the point. God can use the least of the least of the least. God can use the Gideons of the world to accomplish His big victories. No matter how you view yourself, know that God views you as an instrument to accomplish His great victories. Remember that when you read His instructions and just do what He says. Then be amazed at His work in you.
