Today’s reading is Joshua 19-20.

Have you gone to the city of refuge? You may not be a murderer, but you have sinned. And the accuser would like nothing more than to take vengeance on you for your sins. But, God has established a city of refuge, Christ’s church. According to Hebrews 12:22-24, when we have come to Christ’s church, we have come to a heavenly city. Further, because our High Priest has died, we are free and the accuser and avenger of blood can do nothing to us. Instead of us dying at the hands of the avenger, our High Priest died to set us free from Him. What an amazing High Priest and Savior we have. Let’s run and take refuge in Him today.

Monday’s reading is Joshua 21-22.

A Word for Our Kids

Hey kids, hang on to this city of refuge concept that I shared with your parents. You may not believe it now, but one day you will need a refuge. One day you will recognize that you have sinned. In that day, don’t try to flee the accuser and avenger on your own. Instead, run to Christ and His city. He is the High Priest. He has died to let you enter His city and be free. This, of course, is not permission to sin. But it is permission to turn to our refuge when you have sinned. Please, always remember that and turn to Him when you discover your need for a refuge. He will welcome you in. Praise the Lord!
