Today’s reading is Hebrews 10-11.
How amazing is Jesus?! Under the Old Covenant and the Levitical priesthood, the Jews had to offer as a base more than 2000 sacrifices per year. That didn’t even count all the individual sacrifices brought for sin, guilt, burnt, and votive offerings. That adds up to over 2 million sacrifices throughout the history of the Tabernacle and Temple of Yahweh. Yet, those sacrifices actually couldn’t provide the payment for the sins of even one person. Jesus offers Himself as one sacrifice and He pays for the sins of everyone throughout all history who are in Him. WOW!!! Seems to me we should get in Him and put Him in the beginning of all we are and do. What a Savior!
Tomorrow’s reading is Hebrews 12-13.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Please don’t let the skeptics of our culture convince you that faith means blindly accepting things that go contrary to reason and reality. That simply isn’t true. Faith is rather the reasonable acceptance of truths even though we haven’t seen them with our own eyes. Frankly, I’ve never seen an egg come from a chicken, but I have faith it does. I’ve never actually seen the Eiffel Tower in France, but I have faith that it is really there. I don’t blindly accept these things; I accept them based on eye-witness testimony of faithful sources. Nevertheless, faith isn’t for fools, and you are no fool to put your faith in Jesus Christ.
