Today’s reading is Hebrews 8-9.
What are you doing right now? Are you waiting? Waiting for what? The next Star Wars movie? Your next semester to start? Your life to really begin? Your graduation? That certain someone to ask you out? Your boss to recognize your worth to the company? There are plenty of things to wait for, but only one with eternal significance. “Christ…will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Are you eagerly waiting for Him? Or do you wish He would wait a little longer? That’s an interesting question.
Tomorrow’s reading is Hebrews 10-11.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, do you remember all those sacrifices we read about in the book of Leviticus. So much blood and death. It was kind of gross, wasn’t it? But no more. Each and every one of those sacrifices were pointing to one thing. They pointed to the one sacrifice that would really save us from sin. They were pointing to the sacrifice of Jesus. Those sacrifices had to be offered over and over again, because in fact they could not really accomplish what we need. Jesus, however, did accomplish it. We are saved and forgiven through Him and His sacrifice. No matter what, hang on to Him; His sacrifice, covenant, and promises are better.
