Today’s reading is Leviticus 19-20.

“You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.” Have you ever noticed this is a statement, not a command? Don’t get me wrong, because our God is holy, we should pursue holiness. But God’s real point is when Yahweh is our God, because He is holy, we become holy. We become what we worship. That is why God must put God at our beginning. Only when He is truly our God will we become holy. If we are worshiping anything else, putting it first, it will dominate our lives. Let Yahweh be your God and become holy as He is.

Monday’s reading is Leviticus 21-22.

A Word for Our Kids

Hey kids, I hope you picked up on what I shared with your parents today. You need to be careful what you grow up idolizing, because you will become what you worship. If you idolize someone in sports or on television, you are not guaranteed to become a professional athlete or a famous actor, but you are guaranteed to become like them in ways that may not be so great. Worship God above all and everyone. That is the only way to pursue holiness because we really do become what we worship.
