Today’s reading is Leviticus 17-18.
Unlike all the nations around them, Israel was not to drink the blood even of the animals they sacrificed. Why? Because that is where the life is. It was to be poured out to make atonement. What did Jesus pour out? His blood. Because life was in His blood for our atonement. Interestingly, in the Lord’s Supper, our sacrificial meal, we actually do drink the blood (metaphorically, of course, in the fruit of the vine). We are drinking in the life of Jesus as we rejoice in His life, death, and resurrection. Think of that when you partake this Sunday as you drink in the life Jesus offered for your atonement. Praise the Lord!
Tomorrow’s reading is Leviticus 19-20.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, I know it is weird, but I hope you caught what I shared with your parents. Jesus shed His blood, because His life was in His blood. That life makes atonement for us. He did that even when He knew all of our sins. He did that because He loves us. Never forget that. Always turn back to Him and let His life bring you to life.
