Today’s reading is Exodus 29-30.
Did you catch why God delivered Israel from Egypt? “And they shall know that I am Yahweh their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am Yahweh their God.” God brought them out not so much that they could dwell in the Promised Land, but that God might dwell with them. Do you see then why God has delivered us from sin by the blood of Jesus Christ? He did not deliver us so that we might dwell in whatever manner pleases us. He delivered us so that He might dwell with us. Let us take comfort in His deliverance, and let us live as dwelling places of God.
Monday’s reading is Exodus 31-32.
A Word for Our Kids
Hey kids, notice all the steps the priests had to go through in order to be consecrated to God’s service. Some of this should let us know that this Old Covenant system has an underlying problem. In a sense, try as Israel might, it simply can’t work, not because God has a problem, but because the people do. Because these priests are sinners, they are not really and truly able to mediate between God and man. That is why we really need a Savior. We need a true High Priest who didn’t need to go through all this consecrating because He was perfect. Jesus is that High Priest. Praise God for sending us a real High Priest who can really be our Mediator between God and us. Always look to and hang on to our true, our one and only High Priest, Jesus Christ.
