Tomorrow’s reading is Genesis 9-10.

Noah, son of Lamech, survives the flood. Did you catch there were two Lamechs in Genesis? One was a descendant of Cain, the other of Seth. The Lamech of Cain had great sons: Jabal, who developed ranching; Jubal, who developed instrumental music; Tubal-cain, who developed metallurgy. You know Cain’s Lamech had to be a pretty proud papa. In comparison, who did Seth’s Lamech father? Noah, a guy who found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Which child do you want to raise?

Monday’s reading is Genesis 11-12.

A Word for Our Kids

Hey kids, did you catch what I shared with your parents? I asked them to consider their goal in raising you. Now I want to flip this on you. Which of these kids do you want to be? Is your goal to be materially and financially successful? Or is your goal to find grace in God’s eyes? These are not mutually exclusive. When you find grace in God’s eyes, He may grant you material and financial blessings. He may not. I encourage you, put God in the beginning of your life, pursue His grace, and let Him decide how He will bless you. Noah survived the flood, the other Lamech’s descendants all died in it. Which one do you want to be?
